a small town in the US state of Massachusetts about 12 miles/19 kilometres north-west of Boston. The Battle of Concord was the second battle of the American Revolution. The town is remarkable for the number of famous writers who lived there, including Nathaniel Hawthorne, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau and Louisa May Alcott. see also Lexington and Concord
