a stately home near Chichester in southern England. It was first built in the 17th century, and rebuilt in the late 18th century. It contains valuable pieces of furniture and works of art, especially from 18th-century France. It is best known for the horse races that take place near the house. The five-day race meeting that takes place in July each year is called 'Glorious Goodwood' and the racecourse is often described as the most beautiful in the world.
