(1946-2004) a British doctor who was found guilty of murdering 15 of his patients, mostly older women, by giving them injections of drugs and was sent to prison for life in 2000. A public enquiry into the case found that he had killed at least 200 other patients over a period of 23 years, making him Britain's worst serial killer (= a person who murders several people one after the other).
