a US magazine for men known especially for its pictures of nearly naked women. It was started by Hugh Hefner in 1953, when it was seen as part of the 'sexual revolution' of that time. The magazine also includes serious articles, short stories, etc., as well as Hefner's own writing on the history and importance of sex. Some people joke that they only buy the magazine for the articles. The famous Playboy logo is a rabbit wearing a bow tie.
