the American community in Massachusetts established in 1620 by the Pilgrim Fathers. Half of the people died during the first harsh winter, but good crops the next year led to the first Thanksgiving. Plymouth Colony joined the New England Confederation in 1643 and became part of the colony of Massachusetts in 1691.
