Definition of Swaziland from the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary

a small country in south-east Africa, between South Africa and Mozambique. It was under the control of the Boers until the Boer War, when it became a British protectorate (= a country controlled and protected by Britain). It became an independent member of the Commonwealthin 1968. Swaziland is ruled by a king who chooses the prime minister and the cabinet. It has many cultural and economic links with South Africa.
