any of a chain of shops selling products for cleaning and caring for the skin and hair. The shops are well known for only selling natural products that have not been tested on animals. The business was started in Britain by Anita Roddick, and there are now shops in many countries around the world. The Body Shop was bought by L'Oréal in 2006.
