(in Britain) a shop run by the Co-operative Group. There is a Co-op in most British towns and cities. It can be either a corner shop, a supermarket or a department store (= large shop where many types of goods are sold in different departments) selling food, furniture, electrical goods and household products. I bought it at the local Co-op see also Co-operative Movement
