(in the US) one of the two organizations for professional baseball see also American League Culture The National League is the older of America's two professional baseball associations. It was established in 1876 as the National League of Professional Baseball Players. It now has 15 teams with five in the Eastern Division, five in the Western Division and five in the Central Division. The winning team plays the winner of the American League in the World Series.
