the common name for Williams F1 (‘Williams Formula One’), or officially Williams Martini Racing, a British company that makes racing cars and organizes teams of drivers, mechanics (= people skilled in working on engines), etc. to enter competitions. It was established in 1977 by Frank Williams and Patrick Head, and has been one of the most successful teams in motor racing.
