a type of dance music that combines jazz, funk, soul, and hip hop Word Originapparently coined from acid house and popularized by the Acid Jazz record label founded in 1988. Culture Acid jazz was popular in the 1990s. Groups such as Incognito and the Brand New Heavies were typical of the style, using jazz instruments, rap singers and a fast rhythm.
