an English version of the Bible that was translated in 1611 on the instructions of King James I of England Culture The Authorized Version became the main English version of the Bible. In the 20th century more modern translations were made, but some Anglican churches continue to use the Authorized Version, and many people still prefer its old-fashioned language.
