Britain's leading chocolate producer. The original Cadbury chocolate factory was built in the centre of Birmingham in 1831 by John Cadbury. In 1879 a new factory was built in Bournville in Birmingham, and the company also built houses for its workers in a pleasant environment. In 1969 Cadbury became part of Cadbury Schweppes, Schweppes being a leading producer of soft drinks, but the two companies split in 2008. In 2010 Cadbury then became part of Kraft and in 2012 part of Mondelēz International when Kraft was divided.
