an international charity based in Britain. It organizes journeys, usually of 5-10 weeks, for young people aged 17 to 24, to distant countries for a combination of adventure and useful environmental and community projects. It also organizes journeys for older people up to the age of 75. It began as Operation Raleigh in 1980, following the success of Operation Drake.
