(in the US) politicians and political groups who support conservative social and political policies and religious ideas based on Christian fundamentalism Culture The New Right has been the name since the 1980s for the US politicians who have been in favour of a return to states' rights and traditional family values, and against abortion and equal rights for homosexuals(= ). Their views have been supported by the Moral Majority of Jerry Falwell and other religious groups based on fundamentalism. They helped to elect Presidents Ronald Reagan, George Bush, and George W Bush.
