(in Britain) a military force of people who are not professional soldiers but who train as soldiers in their free time, now called the Army Reserve Culture The Territorial Army joined together with the British Army to fight in the Second World War . The TA was established in 1908 and is part of the Volunteer Reserve Forces. Since 2013 it has been known as the Army Reserve.
