a British right-wing political party, created in 1993, which would like Britain to leave the EU. It has had a number of elected members of the London Assembly, has one member of the Northern Ireland Assembly and in 2014 gained its first seat in the House of Commons. In 2014 it came first in the British elections for the European Parliament, ahead of the Conservative and Labour parties, and now has 24 of the UK's 73 MEPs.
