- Edward Morgan Forster (1879-1970) an English writer of novels, short stories and essays. He is best known for his novels, which examine themes of understanding and friendship among the English upper middle classes and satirize the behaviour of the English when travelling abroad. His best-known works include A Room with a View (1908), Howards End (1910) and A Passage to India (1924).
