  1. a series of novels by John Galsworthy, written between 1906 and 1921. They tell the story of Soames Forsyte, a lawyer, and his family from the 1880s to the 1920s. At the beginning they build a house in London, but after 40 years of difficult and complicated relationships there is nobody living in the house. Successful television series of the story were made in the 1960s and in 2002.
