noun/əˌmerɪkən ˈɪndiən/
/əˌmerɪkən ˈɪndiən/
(also Native American)
- a member of any of the peoples who were the original people living in America, before people arrived from Europe Some people dislike using the general terms Native American or American Indian to refer to any of the many different groups of indigenous people from North and South America. It is better to be more specific if you can, by mentioning a particular region or using the name of a particular tribe or nation.
