- (1942-2018) a US singer who has been called 'Lady Soul' and the 'Queen of Soul'. She won a Grammy award every year from 1967 to 1974 and in total received 18. Her best-known songs are I Say a Little Prayer (1967) and Respect (1968). In 1987 she was chosen for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
