  1. (1929-2016) a US golf player who was especially successful in the 1960s. He was the first person to earn $1 million from golf. He won the Masters Tournament four times (1958, 1960, 1962 and 1964), the US Open (1960) and the British Open twice (1961-2). The many people who came to support him as he played were often referred to as 'Arnie's Army'.
