- the oldest and largest Jewish organization in the world with associations in many countries. It began in 1843 in New York and has its main office in Washington, DC. It is a cultural, social and educational organization that also supports hospitals and gives help after disasters. In 1913 it created the Anti-Defamation League to fight unfair treatment of Jewish people and others. B'nai B'rith means 'Sons of the Covenant'.
