Burma Shave™
/ˈbɜːmə ʃeɪv/
/ˈbɜːrmə ʃeɪv/
- a US make of cream used on the face when shaving. Between 1926 and 1963 the Burma-Vita Company advertised it on a series of small signs along roads. Each sign in a group had a few words printed on it, and the whole group, read in sequence, formed a short humorous poem. At one time there were 35 000 of these. One was: “Noah had whiskersIn the arkBut he wouldn't get byOn a benchIn the park.Burma-Shave.”
