  1. a US film (1963), directed by Joseph L Mankiewicz. Elizabeth Taylor played the part of the Egyptian queen Cleopatra and Richard Burton played her lover Mark Antony. These actors also had a romantic relationship and later married. Cleopatra cost $44 million to make and was at the time the most expensive film ever made.
