- (1902-57) an officer with the US Justice Department during Prohibition. With a team of men called the Untouchables, he led surprise attacks on illegal alcohol operations run by Al Capone in Chicago, and helped to end Capone's criminal career. The US television series and film, both called The Untouchables, were based on Ness's work.
