- (1860-1961) the popular name for the US painter Anna Mary Robertson Moses. She was a farmer's wife who did not paint until the age of 76 and then produced more than 1 200 works. Her colourful paintings are in the primitive style and show the countryside where she had lived in New York State and Virginia. Her last paintings were done at the age of 101.
