Jacksonville

- the largest city in the US state of Florida, and the US city with the largest area (759 square miles/1 966 square kilometres). It is a major port on the St Johns River and has a US Navy base. Jacksonville was first settled in 1816 as Cowford and then named in 1822 after Andrew Jackson.
