  1. James Thomas Farrell (1904-79) a US writer of novels, short stories and poems. His realistic novels were about the Irish in the poor section of Chicago. He wrote three novels between 1932 and 1935 about the character Studs Lonigan and five between 1936 and 1953 about Danny O'Neill. His collected poems were published in 1965.
