The stories are set in the future in Mega City One, and Judge Dredd is a member of the police who is also a judge of criminals and executes them. The film Judge Dredd (1997) was based on the character, which was played by Sylvester Stallone. In a later film called Dredd (2012), the main character was played by Karl Urban.
