the North American Free Trade Agreement
- an agreement signed in 1992 between the US, Canada and Mexico to allow goods to be transported and sold more easily over their borders. It also makes it easier for business and professional people to move between the three countries. The agreement began to operate in 1994. It was replaced by the USMCA.
