- an imaginary land of strange people and talking animals in a series of seven children's books (sometimes called the Narnia Chronicles) by C S Lewis. In the first of these, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (1950), four children get into Narnia through an old wardrobe (= a large cupboard for clothes).
