  1. the practice or policy of making sure that jobs, advantages etc. are given to people from groups that are often treated unfairly because of their race, sex, etc.
    • They claim to be the victims of reverse discrimination.

    The term reverse discrimination is usually used to show disapproval; if you do not want to suggest that you disapprove of the policy you can say positive discrimination or affirmative action.
