    • The men were all dressed in traditional shukas.
    Word OriginMid 19th century; earliest use found in Richard Burton (1821–1890), explorer and author. Originally from Arabic šuqqa (also šiqqa), specific use of šiqqa one half; in later use via Kiswahili shuka.
