- the capital city of the US state of Minnesota. It is on the Mississippi River which separates it from Minneapolis, and the two are known as the 'Twin Cities'. St Paul was first established in 1840, when it was called Pig's Eye Landing. It became the capital of the Minnesota Territory in 1849. Today it produces computers and other electronic equipment and cars. It has a famous Winter Carnival each year.
