  1. the national library of Britain and the most important of the copyright libraries. It used to be part of the British Museum but in the 1990s a new library was built near St Pancras station in London. It is built in the shape of a ship. Although it is much larger than the old library, it is still not big enough for all the books and documents that need to be kept. The newspaper collection is in North London and there is another reading room at Boston Spa in the north of England. It also contains a large collection of digital material, including sound recordings.
