  1. a popular US television series (1963-7) on ABC which told the story of an innocent man, played by David Janssen, who is condemned to death for the murder of his wife, but escapes to find the person who killed her. The final show, in which the criminal is found, had the largest television audience in the 1960s. There was a film version in 1993, with Harrison Ford in the main part.
