- a successful radio series (1978-80), book (1979), and television series (1981) written by Douglas Adams. They are about Arthur Dent's comic adventures in space after the earth is destroyed by the Vogons. There were several further books, including The Restaurant at the End of the Universe (1980) and there was a new radio series in 2004.
