  1. the name given to one of the most famous and terrible crimes in Britain in the 20th century. In the early 1960s Ian Brady (1938-2017) and Myra Hindley (1942-2002) tortured and murdered several children. They photographed and recorded the children while they were carrying out the crimes. They then buried the bodies on moors near Manchester. In 1966 they were both sent to prison for life.
