Thomas Cranmer

- (1489-1556) the first Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury. He was influenced by the ideas of Martin Luther, and supported King Henry VIII over the ending of his marriage to Catherine of Aragon and in establishing the Church of England. He was responsible for the Book of Common Prayer and had a strong influence on the Reformation. He was killed by burning when the Roman CatholicMary I became Queen.
