  1. a Hollywood film company, established in 1912, and now part of NBC Universal. The large area where many of its films are made is called Universal City and attracts many tourists. Steven Spielberg made several of his films there, including Jaws, ET and Jurassic Park. The company opened a second Universal City at Orlando, Florida, in 1990.
