  1. Birmingham Small Arms
    a British company that produced bicycles and motorcycles. It originally made weapons but began making motorcycles in the early 20th century. In the middle of the 20th century BSA motorcycles were popular all around the world, but by the 1960s they were less successful than Japanese ones, and the company stopped making them in the early 1970s. The BSA name has been owned by several companies since then.
