- Darryl Francis Zanuck (1902-79) a US film producer. After working for Warner Brothers he formed his own company, which became 20th Century Fox. Darryl Zanuck's successful films included The Grapes of Wrath, The Longest Day (1962), How Green Was My Valley (1941), The Sound of Music and Patton (1970). He won a special Oscar in 1937.
