- a famous toy shop in Manhattan, New York City, originally opened in 1870 by Frederick Schwarz (1836-1911), a German immigrant. It was one of the largest in the world. FAO Schwarz was one of the first companies to sell goods by mail order. The original shop was closed in 2015 but a new shop was opened in New York in 2018.
