- a popular children's story. Goldilocks, a young girl with golden curly hair, goes to a house where three bears live (Mother Bear, Father Bear and Baby Bear). The bears are not at home, and Goldilocks eats some of their porridge and tries all their beds before going to sleep in one of them. The bears return, see that someone has been there, and say ‘Who's been eating my porridge?’ and ‘Who's been sleeping in my bed?’ until they find her and she escapes. The story is often used as the basis for a pantomime in Britain.
