- a character in the novel Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. He is found as a baby and brought up by the family of Catherine Earnshaw. He develops a strong love for her, but because of his wild nature she will not marry him. He leaves, Catherine marries and he returns three years later to take revenge on the people he blames for destroying his life.
