- Ivor Armstrong Richards (1893-1979) an English writer and critic of literature. He taught at Cambridge and Harvard universities, and with C K Ogden (1889-1957) developed the idea of basic English. His best-known book is Principles of Literary Criticism (1924). He also published several collections of poetry.
