- a US film (1934) which was the first comedy to win an Oscar for Best Picture. Other Oscars went to Frank Capra, who directed it, and to the actors Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert. The story is about a journalist and a rich girl who has left her parents. He helps her hide, because he wants the news story.
