- Jean Paul Getty (1892-1976) a US businessman who was one of the richest men in the world. He became President of the Getty Oil Company in 1947 and was estimated to be worth more than $1 billion by 1968. He collected art and in 1954 established the J Paul Getty Museum which is now in Los Angeles, California. He settled in Britain in the early 1950s.
