John Wooden

- (1910-2010) a successful US university basketball manager at UCLA (1948-75). His teams were US National Champions 10 times (1964-5, 1967-73 and 1975), and he was chosen Coach of the Year seven times. The US Basketball Writers Association each year presents the John R Wooden Award to the best US college or university basketball player.
